Honey Nut Chex

It was a normal May day nearly 6 years ago.  I had been on bedrest for a month because I had preeclampsia.  I was having a non-stress test weekly and visiting with perinatology as well as my doctor weekly. Oh, and peeing in a giant orange jug for 24 hours every week.  One of those days, my luck ran out and I was sent to the hospital to find out that I had developed HELLP syndrome and they were inducing me then.  My husband wasn't there, I didn't have my bags packed, this couldn't actually be happening.  But, it was, and I had made it to almost 37 weeks so there was relief that everything should be ok.  Fast forward 29 hours of laboring and almost 3 hours of pushing and my sweet *little* girl was born and sent to the NICU.  I was starving, and nothing sounded good at all.  I ended up eating 2 bowls of Honey Nut Chex and that was perfect.  About an hour later I got really sick (turns out I had rotavirus) and one of the only things I wanted to eat while I was in the hospital was Honey Nut Chex.  I don't eat it now very often, but every time I do, I'm right back in the hospital in my mind, having just given birth.
And don't worry, with my next births I got it right.  My bags were packed in advance and I always take a box of Honey Nut Chex with me to eat right after delivery.

Chex Honey Nut Cereal, 13.8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) - makes them $2.62/box
Chex Corn Cereal, 14-Ounce Box (Pack of 14) - makes them $2.35/box
Chex Cereal, Vanilla, 13.5 Ounce (Pack of 12) - makes them $2.62/box

$5 off coupon on Seventh Generation Dish Soap

There's a $5 off coupon available on Seventh Generation Dish Liquid, Free & Clear, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) Packaging May Vary right now.  To give you an idea, that's 150 ounces for $7.77 (5.1 cents/ounce).  Dawn is at Costco in a 90 ounce size for $8.99 (9.9 cents/ounce), even when they put their $2 coupon on that to bring it down to $6.99 it is still 7.7 cents/ounce. Go order you some for your next delivery day.

**Update** this coupon has been used and they aren't offering it anymore.  But, there are plenty of other great deals you can still get in other posts or in the Subscribe & Save Store.

Find more coupons here - as long as you have an Amazon Mom account.  Remember, it is covered by your regular Prime account but you do technically have to sign up.  It's worth an extra 5% off each month too.  More details are found here.

Pasta Stock Up

Ladies, stock up on your pasta storage with these options that are from Barilla.  They are running a 20% off additional coupon for all of these options.  Combine that with the subscribe and save discount and some of these prices are way better than you can ever find on a price match on Barilla pasta at our friends at Wally World.  Click here for options on all Barilla pastas.  To find out more about getting started on subscribe and save, click here.

Best 20% off coupon options

You can only use the 20% off coupon on one item, so choose carefully.  Remember to click the 20% off coupon button that is in the middle, right under the main price.  I've already clicked mine so it says "Saving 20% more" in orange.  Here are some of my favs.

Barilla Elbow Pasta, 16 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 16) - $13.28 for 16 boxes that are 16 ounces each making them 83 cents per box.
Barilla Whole Grain Elbow Pasta, 13.25 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 16) $17.58 before the 20% coupon, comes out to $13.19 after the 20% subscribe and save discount and the additional 20% off coupon for a total of 82 cents per box.

$18.62 for 12 boxes of Gluten Free, makes them $1.55 each.  Barilla Gluten Free Penne Pasta, 12 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

After the 20% off coupon it is $7.09.  These almost never go on sale in the stores and are at least $2.50/box.  Barilla Oven Ready Lasagne Pasta, 9 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) - I use these to make freezer meal lasagnas for my family.  You don't boil them and it makes cranking out several meals so easy.  They fit perfectly in an 8x8" pan or you can squish them into a loaf pan for smaller portions.

$14.81 after the extra 20% off coupon brings them to 92 cents each box! Barilla Gemelli Pasta, 16 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 16)

Barilla Jumbo Shells Pasta, 12 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

Monthly subscribe and save options

Everyday subscribe & save - these are all $6.37 for a 4 pack, making them $1.59 each.  Not a bad price for this brand, especially since you can get the Whole Grain or Plus options for the same price.  At the store those are always more expensive!

Laundry Detergent Options

This is my chore for today - or really, my least favorite chore for every week.  Since the Cheer laundry detergent that I've been using for months isn't letting more people subscribe to it right now, I thought I'd post a couple of better laundry options for you.  Maybe the fact that I can get these cute little pods for an affordable price might help me get excited.

All Mighty Pacs , Free Clear Laundry Detergent, 72 Count - I like the concept of having just one little pouch instead of the liquid - mostly because my sweet son is into pushing buttons on anything and I know one of these days he is going to do it on the laundry soap.  I've been worried about cost on the pod type but these are actually more affordable than the liquid version at Wal-Mart.  I found the 100 ounce one (the largest they had) for $7.97 there for 66 loads.  Without including tax, that makes it 12.5 cents per load.  Order them on subscribe and save for just 11 cents per load and get the bonus of the pod situation.

Tide Pods Laundry Detergent Spring Meadow Scent 77 Count  - these are $15.38 on subscribe and save which makes them just under 20 cents per load.  At Costco they are $23.99 for a pack of 90 pods making them 26.6 cents per load before taxes. Compared to the liquid at Costco, it is $19.99 without a coupon.  If you add taxes in with that it makes 102 loads cost 20.9 cents each.  I'm pretty sure I just convinced myself to switch to the pods.

Bounce Fresh Linen Fabric Softener Sheets 160 Count I've been watching for a Bounce option that would compete with Costco and I finally found it!  These have a .50 coupon on them to drop them down to $4.97/box for a total of 3.1 cents/sheets.
Bounce Free Sheets 240 Count - These are $8.25 for a box of 240, making them 3.4 cents each.  At Costco (not counting coupons) they are 3.3 cents each.  So, technically, they are cheaper at Costco but by hardly anything.

Medicine Cabinet/Filler Items

I've posted before about a few items that are cheap and easy to act as fillers if one month you want to get your delivery but don't have quite enough things to get to 5. Here's another one to add to that list that's super easy, and I've needed with a few back to back sicknesses at our house lately.

Good Sense Acetaminophen Children's Pain Reliever Oral Suspension Liquid, Bubble Gum Flavor, 160 mg, 4 Fluid Ounce - this is going to break the bank at $2.30.  You will spend $5 + for the store brand at Walgreen's.  And when you have a sick one, the last thing you want to do is run to the store!

Good Sense Allergy Relief Loratadine Tablets, 10 mg, Antihistamine, 30-Count - I'm sorry, but 30 Claritin would cost you an arm and a leg compared to this generic brand.  The active ingredient is the exact same, it will work just like Claritin.  There's a $1.00 off coupon right now and that makes 30 of them $2.34.  No typo there.  Stock up for the springtime hayfever.

Curad Extreme Hold, Assorted Sizes, 30 Count - these are a great set of assorted sizes and are only $2.79 because of the extra discount.

Good Sense Ibuprofen Tablets, 200 mg, 500 Count If you have a need for some extra Ibuprofen (Advil, but without the candy coated shell, I know, sad) then grab 500 of these caplets for $4.58 after the subscribe and save discount and the $1 off coupon.

Remember, you can put these on your subscribe and save list, and then postpone the shipments for YEARS if you want.  But, you may as well save some cash and the the headache of running to the store by stocking these in your medicine cabinet today.
